Akshardham Temple
Akshardham Jaipur is one of the most visited tourist destinations of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the most sacred cities for Hindus in India. The legendary Brahma built the city during the era of Mahabharata. Splendid & lush green forests surround it on the sides, and it is endowed with numerous historical monuments. Elaborately decorated jhopra structures honoring Hindu goddess Narayan and placed amidst green gardens with waterfalls.
The best part about Akshardham Jaipur is that it is not a famous tourist destination anymore. The development of the brick-and-mortar economy in the city has reduced the pace of its development. No major temples are built in the city, nor any new Akshardham Jaipur temple being constructed. But what tourists do find in Akshardham Jaipur is a plethora of hotels, inns, guest houses and camping sites in and around the city. These all offer a delightful stay at affordable prices.
The most visited Akshardham temples in Rajasthan are Jain temples at Jodhpur, Babulnath Temple at Bikaner and Ajmer Sharif's Mehtab dome. All these temples hold a unique charm and have their own significance to Hindus. All these temples are incomplete without akshardham temple. Its majestic dome is embellished with numerous miniature statues of deities and flowers arranged in a floral pattern.
The best part about Akshardham Temple is that it is a favourite with local people and visitors outside India. There are numerous stories relating to Lord Akshardham and his dealings with the royal family of Magadha and his soldiers who tried to cross the sacred river Ganges on the golden sand. Lord Akshardham took the precautionary measures of building a strong boat to cross the sacred river Ganga so that no enemy could attack him. When the enemy soldiers reached close to him, he cut his own way through them with his Akshardham knife and slew all the soldiers of the enemy including his viziers.
One of the most visited temples in the city is the Hindu Temple of Khajuraho built by the king Ajatsatru in the tenth century. This temple is a must visit for all worshipers. The main deity at Khajuraho is a representation of the Hindu god Shiva. The other two temples at the site are a Lingam, a small temple dedicated to the god Shiva and a Lingam, a statue of lord Shiva. At the foot of the Lingam are found the footprints of the divine shakti.
In addition to these temples, there are other Hindu temples of Khajuraho that can be visited in a trip to Jaipur. The most famous temple here is the Shabarimala temple which is built in honour of the Indian goddess Shabarimala. Another temple of the Hindu goddess Maheswara located in the middle of the Khajuraho forest is known as the 'Shiva temple jaigopura'. A walk into the forest will give you a wonderful insight into the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.
